St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church began this outreach ministry in 1968. At that time, St. John's Community Nursery School was born. A team gathered together, recognizing the need for parents to have a place where their young children could learn through play and other activities in a safe environment. This was a radical new idea! Fast forward over 50 years and 5000+ children have graduated from what is now known as St. John's Community Preschool!
Our school is located in the Education Building of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3512 Clinton Street, West Seneca, NY 14224

Preschool is the beginning of your child's school experience.
We make the transition from home to school a happy one through careful planning by experienced teachers.
We use "self contained" classrooms because the small child finds added security in having most of his activities in one place. Children enjoy routine in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with an always flexible schedule. Preschool time is carefully designed and supervised to encourage creativity while meeting special, individual needs.
Our Staff:
Jodie Galley, Director & UPK Lead Teacher. Jodie has been a resident of West Seneca her entire life. Her education began at St. John's Preschool when she attended as a three and a four year old. In September of 2004 she returned as a teacher of the three and four year old classes. Jodie attended the State University of New York College at Buffalo to study Elementary Education and completed a concentration in mathematics. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education in May of 1999. Jodie returned to school to complete her Masters program in Education in August of 2003. Jodie has a New York State Certification to teach PreK and Kindergarten through sixth grade.
Angela Dunn, 3 year old Lead Teacher. Angela was raised in Cheektowaga, NY, and graduated from West Seneca East Senior in 2003. She graduated from Villa Maria College with an Associates degree in applied science/music business in 2005. Right after graduation, Angela started working in childcare as an assistant. She decided to then get her CDA (Child Development Associates Credential) a few years later in Infant/Toddler. Angela worked as a head teacher up until the birth of her daughter, Marie, in 2016. Marie is a St. John's alumni, attending as both a 3 year old and the UPK program. Angela loved it so much she started as a substitute Teacher's Aide at St. John's during the 2022/2023 school year. Angela is certified to teach birth to 3 years of age.
